Diamonds and quantum physics – inaugural lecture by Tim Schröder
Ever heard about quantum internet? No? Then Prof. Dr. Tim Schröder's inaugural lecture on February 6, 2024 is the ideal opportunity to find out more. In his lecture "Quantum physics and technology with glamor – how diamonds make the quantum internet possible", he will explain how tap-proof quantum communication works with the help of quantum light. Participants will learn what role diamonds play in all this, how quantum light can be generated using the glamorous material, and what challenges need to be overcome.
The inaugural lecture (in English) is offered in a hybrid format. Further information regarding lecture and registration for online participation is provided on the HU Berlin webseite.
Where: via Zoom or on site: Lise-Meitner-Haus, Christian-Gerthsen-Hörsaal, Newtonstraße 15, 12489 Berlin
When: 3:00 – 5:00 pm
More about Tim Schröder
Tim Schröder is head of the Joint Lab Diamond Nanophotonics, which is jointly operated by Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU Berlin) and Ferdinand-Braun-Institut, Leibniz-Institut für Höchstfrequenztechnik. On November 14, 2022 Tim Schröder was promoted to the W3 professorship for Integrated Quantum Photonics at HU Berlin. His research combines fundamental physical concepts with future device technology. The concepts are designed to provide the basis for turnkey quantum technological devices used in real-world applications in quantum sensing, quantum security, and quantum information processing.
