Joint paper on the cover of “Advanced Optical Materials”
“‘Sawfish’ Photonic Crystal Cavity for Near-Unity Emitter-to-Fiber Interfacing in Quantum Network Applications” is featured on the cover of “Advanced Optical Materials” Volume 12, Issue 13.
The paper presented by Julian M. Bopp (FBH), Matthias Plock (ZIB), Tim Turan (HUB), Gregor Pieplow (HUB), Sven Burger (ZIB), and Tim Schröder (HUB & FBH) is about the development of a waveguide-integrated ‘sawfish’ photonic crystal cavity. The researchers address photon loss, one of the key challenges in complex photonic quantum applications. Their sawfish design achieves 97.4 % efficiency in transferring photon emissions to a fiber, significantly improving quantum communication networks.
